Celebrating the Sacraments

Celebrating Sacraments

In the Diocese of Manchester Bishop Libasci announced his initiative Restore, Renew, Proclaim: the Hope that is Christ currently being implemented from 2018-2021.

RESTORE: the Hope that is Christ

Bishop Libasci’s initiative restores the celebration of the Sacraments of Christian initiation to the order originally intended.

WHAT:

Baptism, followed by Confirmation, and then Eucharist.
By 2021 the typical age will be approximately age 9 or at least 3rd grade of Confirmation and First Eucharist

WHY:

The restored order clarifies the intimate connection between Baptism and Confirmation and makes it easier to see the Eucharist as the summit of Christian initiation.

RENEWS the Hope that is Christ

Nourishing the divine life of god himself given to us in Baptism and accompanying families on their lifelong journey of faith

PROCLAIM the Hope that is Christ

Announcing the Good News of Christ in words and deeds and inviting all into a life of missionary discipleship

First Eucharist
